Explore works inside Good Tape. The MCP lets your own AI tool search your transcripts. Here is how they differ.
| Explore | Good Tape MCP | |
| Where you use it | Inside Good Tape | Inside Claude, ChatGPT, Mistral, Perplexity or another MCP-capable AI tool |
| What it reads | The context you choose: archive, Project or tape | Your own transcripts, summaries and notes |
| Answers come with | Tape and timestamp | Title and ID of each transcript returned |
| Who processes the text | Good Tape, on an EU-hosted model | The AI provider you connect, under its own terms |
| Cost | Included in trial and Business; 10 EUR a month on Pro (8 EUR billed yearly) | Included on Free Trial, Pro and Business. |
What the MCP can do
Once connected, your AI tool can list your transcriptions, search across your archive, and pull a full transcript, a summary or notes. It is read-only, off by default, and can’t edit or delete anything. It only sees your own material, never a teammate’s.
Which AI tools work
Any tool that supports the Model Context Protocol. Good Tape has tested Claude, ChatGPT, Mistral, Perplexity and Lovable, and has setup guides for the first four.
Which should I use?
Use Explore when you want answers with a source, inside Good Tape, with your data processed only by Good Tape and its EU sub-processors. Use the MCP when you would rather work inside an AI assistant you already use. Once you connect an MCP client, that provider’s privacy, data-residency and training terms apply, so check them first if you handle sensitive material.
Set up the MCP
See Get started with Claude, ChatGPT, Mistral or Perplexity in the Connect your MCP section. To turn it off, go to Settings, then Account, then Manage MCP, and choose Revoke MCP client access.
